What is our main focus?
We’re dedicated at Camp Monroe to sharing the love of Jesus Christ and growing young disciples not only through our camp activities, but also through our daily, intentional, and focused times of devotion and vespers. We believe the outdoor setting is the perfect place to deepen our relationship with Jesus.

Do I have to be of a particular religious denomination to come and will I feel comfortable?
While Camp Monroe is committed to the Presbyterian tradition, we welcome and embrace believers of all faith traditions. We only ask that all campers be willing to participate in devotion, vespers, and small group discussion that are part of all our camps. We do not in any way try to convert children to become “Presbyterian.”

What is the Mission of Camp Monroe?
The Mission Statement is “We invite people to a retreat setting where relationships with God, others, and create are nurtured and Christ’s call to discipleship is discovered.”

What time is Check-in?
Check in is at 4:00pm. Please do not arrive before 4:00pm. Staff will be preparing for your child until 4:00pm, and only after that time will they be ready to welcome you. Thank you for observing this request. Staff will greet you at the driveway and will direct you through the check-in process.

How does closing pick-up work?
Our gate will be closed until 2:00pm. Once the gate is open, parents will drive onto the property and be stopped on our main road to complete checkout via vehicles. Once IDs have been validated you’ll be allowed to drive down to Boyd Hall to collect your campers and their luggage, and say goodbye to your counselors. Checkout will take place in front of Hafer Hall.

Do you have financial aid?
Yes. Financial Aid is available to assist those who would otherwise be unable to attend Camp without it. Campership forms can be found here.  If you would like to donate towards a campership, you can do so online here.

Can I come and do a tour before Camp begins?
We have an Open House on April 29, 2023, TIME TBD. Tours are given continuously throughout that time. Also, feel free to call and schedule a tour during a time that might work better for you. Our “non camp” business hours are Tuesday – Saturday, 8:30AM-12:30PM

Can my child bunk with a friend?
Yes. Camp Monroe will honor one cabin mate request. Please indicate requests for cabin mates on the registration form where indicated. Please note that cabin mate requests will only be honored if both campers are in the same age group and program, and request each other. Please communicate with the family of your friend request to ensure that both campers request each other and independently register for the same session before it fills. If you did not request a cabin mate, no problem! Camp is a great place to meet new friends.

What is the daily schedule like?
Each morning campers will meet for breakfast and then split up into their Track Programs. They will meet back up at lunch and then have further self led activities after lunch. After dinner, campers will play all camp games and activities before returning to their cabins for bed time routines.

Can you explain Track Programs?

Our camp sessions are weeklong, starting each Sunday and ending the following Friday for ages 8-16. All campers will get the opportunity to participate in our Base Camp program, which is a sampling of everything Camp Monroe has to offer. Families will then get to choose a track for their camper to help plan programming that may be better suited to their personality.

We have four tracks to choose from:

1. Adventure Track – for the camper who has tons of energy and loves rollercoasters, this track guarantees that the camper will get to spend every day in the giant swing, zip line, race up our climbing tower, and complete our high ropes course challenge.

2. Imagination Track – for the camper who loves arts and crafts and loves hands on experiences building and creating, this track guarantees the camper will spend every day on projects such as jewelry making, creating paper, learning cooking skills, and taking home their accomplishments to share with their families.

3. Sampler Track – for the camper who can never make up their mind, this track offers an opportunity to do everything Camp Monroe has to offer: adventure elements, craft elements, water sports, and all the games in between.

4. H2O Track – for the camper who never wants to get out of the water, this track guarantees that they will spend roughly half of each camp day in the water in some form or fashion (weather permitting).

Regardless of the track chosen by the family, all campers will get the opportunity for small and large group games, time in the pool, time on the water toys in the lake, Bible study and worship. The tracks help guide the camper into setting themselves up for a week of success at Camp Monroe. The Christian theme of the week is shared in the morning, evening, and in Bible study each day by our staff and Chaplains who volunteer their time to Camp Monroe each week.

Do you have videos showing what your camp is like?
Yes! You can watch videos here.

Can I call my camper during the week?
Campers may not receive phone calls while at camp. You may send mail to your camper via USPS. Be sure to include their name on the envelope if mailing. Please address mail in the following way:

Camper Name
c/o Camp Monroe
24501 Camp Monroe Road
Laurel Hill, NC 28351

Please note that typical mail takes up to 4 days to be delivered, so our staff recommend mailing letters starting the Friday before camp to arrive on Tuesday and end letters the Monday of your Camper’s week to arrive by Thursday.

Can I see photos of my child while they are at camp?
Yes! We will post as often as possible on our Facebook page www.facebook.com/CampMonroeNC with pictures of camp each week. At minimum we will post twice a week. Pictures will be available to tag and view as often as you like.

My camper has to leave camp early. What is the notification process?
If your camper needs to leave early, please call the office (910) 276-1654 and give the office the time and day that you need to pick them up. That way your camper will be ready when you arrive. You can also let us know when you check your campers in. All campers must be signed out by Leadership or Administration Staff if leaving at any time other than the scheduled end of session departure.

Someone other than me (the legal guardian) is going to pick up or drop off my camper. Do I need to notify the office?
Yes. Our Camp Office uses the Emergency Contact and Check Out forms for check out procedures. Please place any close family and friends on this form (including yourself and your spouse!) who has access to pick your children up from Camp Monroe.

What type of Health Care is available during my child’s stay?
Our Health Center is staffed by an RN who is on site 24/7 and administers any medicines allowed by the legal guardians.

What if I think my child will be homesick?
The Camp Monroe staff is well trained to work with a homesick camper. For more information on what you can do as a parent to ease the chances of homesickness, please read our Parent Information Packet here.
