WHAT IF YOU COULD CHANGE THE DIRECTION OF YOUR CHILD’S LIFE?
If you are raising a child with an incarcerated parent, this is for you.
No one ever expects to be in this situation.
Whether you’re a single parent, a grandparent, a relative, or another caregiver, raising a child who has an incarcerated parent comes with unique challenges.
YOU MAY BE WONDERING…
How can I give my child meaningful, fun experiences when our budget is already stretched?
What options do I have for active, in-person experiences when outdoor play isn’t always safe?
Where can my child safely learn new skills and try new things with adults I can trust?
How can my family find connection and stability when life often feels unpredictable?
Where can I talk openly about our situation without feeling judged or misunderstood?
How can I find community for my child that’s going through similar thing?
… AND YOU’RE NOT ALONE.
In North Caroline, nearly 19,000 children are impacted by a parent’s incarceration.
Kids with an incarcerated parent are three times more likely to become justice-involved one day.
Families impacted by incarceration often report feelings of isolation and shame.
You want your child to have access to safe, meaningful summer opportunities that encourage learning and development.
We do too.
That’s why we partnered with Angel Tree
Camp Monroe is a Christ-centered summer camp that provides children with a safe, structured, and engaging environment during the summer months. Through age-appropriate activities, trained staff, and a consistent daily routine, campers are encouraged to try new things, build confidence, and form positive relationships.
Campers at Camp Monroe participate in a full schedule that include outdoor recreation, waterfront activities, group games, creative programs, and time for reflection and faith development. Each child is placed in a cabin group with peers their age and is supported by screened, trained counselors who prioritize safety, care, and supervision.
Our goal is to create a summer experience where children feel welcomed, supported, and challenged in healthy ways—while giving families confidence that their child is in a trusted and well-organized program.

We aim for an 8 to 1 camper to counselor ratio, ensuring our campers receive a high level of individualized care.
What if my child can’t swim?
Kids do not need to be able to swim to participate in water activities at Camp Monroe! We have skilled lifeguards on duty during all water activities, and all campers take a swim test to gauge camper’s swim ability.
Every activity, from archery to climbing, is designed with beginners in mind! Our camp staff teach kids the skills they need to be successful.
